Two members of Russian all-girl, feminist-punk band Pussy Riot remain detained in a Moscow holding cell after being arrested while performing in protest of Prime Minister Putin's recent re-election. The two women were part of a direct action performance that occurred inside Moscow's main Orthodox cathedral in February; both could face up to eight years (!!!) in prison for the stunt. Speaking to the Financial Times, a member named Shabya put it bluntly, "Illegality is an essential element of our art...We never get permission for our performances."
