"We are the most affected of the 99%," declares Occupy The Hood, a national grassroots movement comprised of activists, organizers and community members working with like-minded individuals and organizations across the U.S. With chapters across the country from Boston to Los Angeles, Occupy the Hood seeks to improve the lives of "disenfranchised People of Color" and stands in solidarity with any movement or organization working toward the same goals. At a time where almost the entire country is suffering, some of the minorities have it even worse, as unemployment for African-Americans is almost double the national average and in many cities, it is actually triple or even quadruple.
Needless to say, music like the Moment of Clarity mixtape becomes even more essential for members of the effected communities. Dozens of artists have come together to raise their voices on issues like the death of Trayvon Martin, and the result is a compelling collection of songs that cannot be missed.
