I make $7.25 an hour, and this work breaks my back,
in a 40-hour week, it's $1,160.00 a month that I rack.
With taxes taken out, it's $900.00 a whack,
my rent is $500.00, leaving $400.00 intact.
$10.00 a day for food, that's $300.00 to snack,
leaves $100.00 for necessities, what do I lack?
Oh I forgot health insurance, at least $300, Jack,
I'd like to wipe my butt; toilet paper is $15.00 a pack.
Electricity bill comes, $200.00 a month for this shack,
my telephone bill, $100.00 - will you call me back?
The numbers don't work, so now I slack
my government says I'm lazy, seeking an easy track.
They say we're all bums, a bunch of worthless hacks,
can't make the numbers work, the politicians, yak yak!
You should be living high on $7.25, you sad sack,
don't ask the government for help, where's your dignity, Mac?
Pull up your boot straps, forget your knick knacks,
you must work more hours or you'll fall through the cracks.
Corporate CEO's with millions say, "don't give us no flack,
you've got $7.25 an hour, with no benefits, you quack."
So with prices going up, I can still hear the smack,
corporations and politicians, the only ones with no lack.
