On November 13, 2011, economists from the University of Massachusetts Amherst drafted an open statement to the Occupy Wall Street movement pledging their support. Since then, more than 400 economists from around the world have added their names. "Occupy Economics" documents the support the Occupy Movement received from academics and analysts as it exploded onto the scene, upended the national conversation and pierced our collective national apathy.
"We are economists who oppose ideological cleansing in the economics profession," they state in this video, before explaining how wealth inequality is eroding our nation's most precious resources - water, a safe environment, education, and most importantly, its people.
