One thing we can do to disempower the big banks is to move our money to local credit unions that enrich the communities in which we live instead of faceless corporations. Occupy Portland jumped on this bandwagon early, and in promoting move your money actions, a member of Occupy PDX got on a bullhorn, claimed he was a banker and asked all of Portland to please not move their money from "his" multibillion-dollar bank.
"Don't go to a credit union with all of my - I mean your - money on November 5," he said. Thankfully, no one in town listened.
